Can you believe it's already that time again? The holiday season is upon us, and I am beyond excited to transform into Buddy the Elf! Decorating our home for Christmas has become our family’s favorite tradition- rather than welcoming Black Friday shopping chaos, we make our way to the tree farm and relish in choosing the perfect tree. We decorate, bake cookies, and kick off the season with our favorite Christmas movies.
Before we jump into the magical world of twinkling lights and festive ornaments, there's one thing Hocus Pocus Cleaning has learned over the years- cleaning BEFORE pulling out those decorations is a must!
We all know cleaning might not be the most exciting, but it's worth it. Picture this: you're all set to hang up your favorite ornaments, and suddenly you notice a layer of dust on your shelves or a few cobwebs in the corners. (Can you say buzzkill?) Let's avoid that disappointment and make sure our holiday decorations shine in all their glory.
First- we tackle the dust. I think we are all a little guilty of neglecting some areas of our homes when it comes to regular cleaning. But hey, we're all human, right? Let’s grab that trusty duster or microfiber cloth and start wiping away dust from your shelves, mantels, and any other surfaces that will be in the spotlight once the decorations are up. It will make a world of difference!
Next- we address the cobwebs. Spiders seem to have a knack for finding the perfect hiding spots, especially in those hard-to-reach corners. With this, we will grab a broom or vacuum cleaner and give those corners a good sweep. You'll thank yourself later when you're not staring at spider webs while sipping hot cocoa (or eggnog) by the Christmas tree.
Now that the dust and cobwebs are history, we cannot forget about the floors. Whether you have carpet, hardwood, or tiles, a good vacuum or sweep will make your space feel fresh and ready for holiday cheer. Plus, it's always nice to have a clean canvas for your decorations to shine on. (Pro Tip: Keep the vacuum or broom out if you have a live tree, those pines get everywhere!)
Finally, we CANNOT overlook the power of a pleasant scent. The holiday season is all about creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Light a scented candle or use some essential oils to infuse your home with a delightful fragrance. Believe me, it'll instantly get you in the holiday spirit and make cleaning feel a lot more enjoyable.
Let's all take a moment to clean up our spaces before we dive headfirst into the magical world of decorating (or just hire HPCS). It may not be the most glamorous task, but it's a small effort that will make a big difference in creating a festive and welcoming environment for ourselves and our loved ones.
Happy cleaning and happy decorating! Let's make this holiday season one to remember.
